Day 2: Orientation

Last night was an adjustment...some roosters felt the need to wake us up at 4 am:) We started the day by going out into the city and exchanging our money for pesos. Motorcyclists were driving EVERYWHERE and without helmets! And we're under strict instructions not to pet the random dogs in the area considering they are not treated as pets here. If we were to pet them, they would follow us in packs and create problems so we all had to try our best not to give them some lovin'. The food was interesting today and I gave it a shot but it definitely wasn't my type of comida:)
We also had our first Spanish class today. YIKES! Definitely won't be fluent anytime soon, but we all know about enough to get have a simple conversation. I'm so excited for tomorrow because we will be going into  Santiago to see the site where we will be working. We will all go to the orphanage a few times/week which will be a highlight I'm sure.
Justin and I were able to have our first Skype date in different countries today:) It was great to see his face and hear his voice! He is impressed that I drank 5 25-oz bottles of water today...and without any flavor! Trying to keep myself hydrated but I have been struggling with a headache all day. But I'm off to the shower and am going to try to get to bed early because I've been struggling to stay awake today. Turns out 4 hours/night isn't doing me justice. Goodnight!
